Collective Alchemy continues 18 December 2020

Friday December 18, 2020

WHAT IS THE MOON ON WATER SHEDDING LIGHT ON, THAT IS CALLING FOR OUR COLLECTIVE CARE, ATTENTION AND EXPRESSION?

WHAT HAS BEEN HERE ALL ALONG THAT WE HAVE NOT SEEN OR ACKNOWLEDGED, THAT WE ARE INVITED TO MAKE ROOM FOR IN OUR LIVES?

Our 18th portal day finds us stepping beyond the dark wood and the light of a guiding star and communing with the numinous presence of The Moon on Water.

We invite you to lean in with us and explore what we can experience, witness and transmute within the holding heart of our practice.

Orienting the next Portal Day calls on the arc of the journey so far:

The past few portal waves have churned us through an intense process of learning, practice and opening—reflecting much of what is going on in our lives and in the wider world. As above, so below; as within, so without. During these weeks, our sensing and hosting field has broadened, and deepened. We see the value and the power of staying engaged with a collective depth practice over time.

This 18th portal wave lies within the signature energy of the Moon on Water—the 18th card in the major arcana of the Wildwood tarot deck. This is the intensely feminine and mystical energy of gestation: what can be discerned under the surface, in the reflective blue-white light of the moon, where the shadows are softer and the liminal energies of the unseen, the immanent and the not-yet-known are more tangible…

For this Portal Wave, Marie-José, Molly, Aakanksha, An, Brigitte, Pieter, Dounia and Wini have joined Sarah and Helen to co-sense what is alive and calling for our shared attention as practitioners of Collective Alchemy. Our commitment to rigorous practice allowed us to sail gracefully and leanly (in terms of time invested) through this co-sensing wave, even with the largest co-sensing circle yet! The richness of our exploration has inspired us to invite you to lean in with us to a version of the question that we have been traveling with on our quest for the question for this Portal Day.

Framing the calling question:

WHAT IS THE MOON ON WATER SHEDDING LIGHT ON, THAT IS CALLING FOR OUR COLLECTIVE CARE, ATTENTION AND EXPRESSION?
WHAT HAS BEEN HERE ALL ALONG THAT WE HAVE NOT SEEN OR ACKNOWLEDGED, THAT WE ARE INVITED TO MAKE ROOM FOR IN OUR LIVES?

Collective Alchemy has emerged from the latency of all possibilities in response to a precise predicament: the world we thought we had been born into is falling to pieces as our civilisation crumbles, and the very survival of our species is in question.

In these circumstances, what does it make sense to do? Do I give my life to a cause, or stay at home chopping wood and carrying water – or something in between? When everything we take as real is unraveling, what lies underneath or behind all of that?

It’s time to go looking! That is the practice that Collective Alchemy invites us into: in the maze of the Era Shift, every path leads inward. We are looking for what will take us in and down and deeper, including where we’d rather not go, to see what we’d rather not know; through darkness, not knowing, unsuspected trauma; perhaps in search of the obvious that is overlooked, hidden in plain sight.

Our helper on this Portal Day will be the Moon on Water. We are called to look not at the card, but through its reflective light and shadows. Beneath the waters on which the Moon’s light falls lies an egg. Many people don’t immediately notice it. This egg can serve as a metaphor for the myriad things that are always there—have always been there—that we fail to see, or refuse to look at, or that is masked by our assumptions and conditioning, both individually and collectively. What happens when we make room for the grief, the pain, the rage, the darkness, the power, the hunger, the intensity—without trying to fix or change anything? What is seeking expression? What expression can heal without causing more harm?

Preparation for the calls

Deepening our capacity for deepening requires study and practice. All that we understand about Collective Alchemy so far is available in the Practice Guide (including bibliography) and the blogs on the website. You can download the Practice Guide as a PDF, or read it online. Until 31 December you can also order a printed copy, by sending us a request with your postal address.
